It’s not too early to gather information about available scholarships.
The William and Muriel Reynolds Moreland Scholarship is awarded yearly to recognize a young person residing in Dormont who has demonstrated exemplary citizenship through service to his/her religious institution, community and/or school. If you reside in Dormont and are graduating in 2015, you should apply for the William and Muriel Reynolds Moreland Scholarship. Last year the scholarship was awarded to Elizabeth Flaherty, 2014 graduate of Keystone Oaks High School.
John F. Kennedy knew that a great nation needs people who believe that you “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” This must first start at home and on the local level. “Ask not what your community can do for you, but what you can do for your community.” This concept serves as the criteria for the William and Muriel Reynolds Moreland scholarship. This award was created in honor of the lifetime leadership, volunteerism, philanthropy and contributions to individuals and community by two outstanding Dormont residents, William Moreland, former mayor of Dormont, and Muriel Reynolds Moreland, former educator at Keystone Oaks and current president of the Dormont Historical Society.
