Healing Arts: Intro to Group Reiki

Quiet the noise, calm your mind, begin to heal. Reiki and drumming have been used for thousands of years to promote health and well being on a physical, mental, and emotional level.

Reiki (pronounced Raykey) is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. Every cell and organ in our body consists of energy. Stress can interfere with the ability of energy to flow smoothly within our body, which can lead to emotional upset and eventually disease. The gentle flow and energy of Reiki enables our body to naturally return to a more balanced state of being.

Every person has a unique energy unlike anyone else. In a group Reiki session, conducted while seated in chairs, our own energy combines with the energy of others to create an intensified opportunity for self-healing. A light touch is used by the practitioner to facilitate the flow of Reiki. Work can also be done in the aura, the subtle energy field that surrounds the body. My Reiki sessions also incorporate the shaman’s drum and Native American flute to introduce sound vibration. Every cell and organ in our body vibrates at a specific rate. The drum facilitates the realignment of vibrational energy and provides the body with another avenue to return to balance.

Reiki programs are becoming popular in many hospital settings around the country. When the body is relaxed, it is better able to heal. Along with stress reduction, other possible benefits of Reiki may include blood pressure and pain reduction, calming of the nervous system, and immune system support.

In our increasingly fast paced society, opportunities for internal self-growth and healing are often seen as a luxury. Very rarely are we encouraged to take time for ourselves, to slow down in order to discover the hidden potential within us. The intent of this workshop, and Pathfinder Healing Arts, is to encourage time for self-care as a vital component to health and well-being.
