Bridge Work Could Affect Dormont-Brookline Motorists

Saw Mill Run Boulevard closure to last nearly three weeks.

DORMONT, PA - PennDOT will close northbound Route 51 for about three weeks beginning Friday night, which could impact commuters in and around the Dormont and Brookline areas.

Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until June 22 while bridge preservation work occurs. All northbound Route 51 traffic will take the ramp toward Truck 19 South/Dormont - 579 Downtown/South Side. Motorists continuing to northbound Route 51, will cross over Route 19 and take the ramp back to northbound Route 51.

Two lanes of traffic will be accommodated to northbound Route 51 on the detour route. Additionally, motorists will be able to turn in each direction at the intersection with Route 19.
Short-term traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur on southbound Route 51 at the interchange with Route 19 through June 9. Bridge jacking operations and bearing resetting work will occur. Southbound Route 51 traffic will be crossed over into the northbound lanes in a later phase.
