Crime On The Decline In Dormont
Violent crime has decreased, although the number of vehicle thefts is on the rise, an FBI report reveals.

DORMONT, PA - Bucking national and regional trends, incidents of violent crime in Dormont decreased last year. That’s according to the FBI’s just-released “Crime in the United States” report.
After one homicide in the borough in 2015, there were none in 2016. The number of aggravated assaults and burglaries also dropped, though the number of vehicle thefts rose.
Nationally, violent crime increased for the second consecutive year. There were an estimated 17,250 murders in the nation last year, an 8.6 percent increase from 2015. Overall violent crime rose 4.1 percent last year. Regionally, the number of violent crimes rose in the seven-county Pittsburgh metro statistical area.
