'Dance Moms' Star Abby Lee Miller Quits Show
Accuses Lifetime program producers of being disrespectful, manipulative.

“Dance Moms” apparently is down its bombastic star. Abby Lee Miller, who has appeared in the popular Lifetime reality show since its 2011 debut, announced on Instagram that she is quitting the show.
Alleging the program’s producers of manipulating and disrespecting her, Miller expressed frustration over not receiving sufficient acknowledgement for the show’s success. Typing in capital letters, Miller stated, “FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS/SEVEN SEASONS, I HAVE ASKED BEGGED AND EVEN DEMANDED CREATIVE CREDIT FOR ALL THE IDEAS, AWARD WINNING ROUTINES, THEMES AND COSTUMING - TO NO AVAIL!”
“Dance Moms” focuses on Miller’s attempts to instruct young female dancers while getting into near-constant confrontations with their mothers. The show initially focused on Miller’s suburban Pittsburgh dance studio when it began airing. Miller, 50, is a Pittsburgh-area native.

Lifetime has not immediately commented on Miller’s post or the show’s future.
Miller’s post did not disclose any future plans or discuss her ongoing legal difficulties. In June, she pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh to one count of concealing bankruptcy assets and one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction.
