
The Organ Artists Series (OAS) of Pittsburgh is pleased to present organist Jeremy Filsell in concert at Calvary Episcopal Church. The event kicks off the 33rd season of the series.
Filsell, one of only a few virtuoso performers on both piano and organ, is artist-in-residence at Washington National Cathedral. He has held teaching posts at the Royal Academy of London and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He maintains a busy performance schedule throughout Russia, Scandinavia, the UK, and North America, and has a discography of over 25 CDs. His concerto repertoire encompasses Mozart and Beethoven through to Shostakovich, John Ireland, and Rachmaninov.
Filsell graduated from Oxford University as Organ Scholar at Keble College. He completed a PhD at Birmingham Conservatoire/Birmingham City University, examining aesthetic and interpretative issues in the music of Marcel Dupré. In 2000, he recorded the complete organ works of Marcel Dupré. Gramophone magazine commented that his recordings were “one of the greatest achievements in organ recording…Filsell’s astonishing interpretative and technical skills make for compulsive listening….”
