Forget Using The Liberty Bridge Yet Again This Weekend
Parkway East motorists also will be inconvenienced as deck reconstruction continues on the span.

PITTSBURGH, PA - In what is rapidly becoming a weekend tradition, PennDOT once again is closing the Liberty Bridge. The span will be shut down in both directions from 8 p.m. on May 19 until 5 a.m. on May 22.
But while deck reconstruction continues on the bridge, the outbound Liberty Tunnel and P.J. McArdle Roadway will remain open for the weekend. One lane of the inbound Liberty Tunnel will be open, but all traffic will have to make a right turn onto P.J. McArdle Roadway upon exiting the tunnel.
The bridge project also will inconvenience Parkway East motorists this weekend. Traffic stoppages of as long as 10 minutes will occur as needed as a precaution while the deck reconstruction occurs. The stoppages will occur between the Fort Pitt Bridge and the Oakland-Forbes Avenue off ramp in the eastbound direction, and between the Second Avenue and Grant Street interchanges in the westbound direction.
