Man Charged With Numerous Brookline Burglaries

A homeless man has been charged in a rash of Brookline-area burglaries thanks in part to an alert resident who took a picture of a man seen climbing into a house's window and exiting the front door on Wednesday, according to Pittsburgh police.

Daniel Wolfe, 32, was arrested Wednesday on Woodbourne Avenue in Brookline after the resident called police and showed them Wolfe's picture, police said.

Police had developed Wolfe as a suspect in two recent robberies. He had with him items from the Birkshire Avenue home that he had been seen leaving on Wednesday when officers William Tripoli and Debra Eynon arrested him, police said.

"This arrest is the culmination of excellent police work and community involvement. Police reporting, trace evidence collected by detectives at the scene, effective communication between detectives and uniformed police, and an excellent Block Watch program in Brookline can be credited with taking a career criminal off the neighborhood streets," police said in a release.

Wolfe was charged with eight counts of burglary, six counts of receiving stolen property and one count of attempted burglary. Further details weren't immediately available.
