Seton-LaSalle Grad Graces Cover of People Magazine

I simply put up a GIANT wall and ate my pain away. The hurt was terrible. I cried everyday after school. There were moments when my mom and I had to plan out who I was going to talk to in school and where I would sit in the mornings before I needed to be in homeroom. Most times, I would just sit alone.

Those are the words of Maria Jarosh, a 22-year-old Baldwin Borough woman who is gracing the cover of the Aug. 19 issue of People magazine.

Jarosh, now 135 pounds and sporting a yellow bikini on the cover, weighed 240 pounds during her freshman year at Seton-La Salle Catholic High School in Mt. Lebanon. Her words above come from a high-school memory that she shares on her new blog, Pretty Little Loser 22, which she started on Sunday.

Jarosh is a different woman these days, and the blog is her way of inspiring and motivating others to live a healthy lifestyle, she says. It features recipes, workout tips and more.

Jarosh is expected to graduate from California University of Pennsylvania this December with a degree in social work. She grew up in Baldwin and still lives in the area of the borough near Saint Elizabeth Parish.

"My story is raw. It is true. It is real," Jarosh writes.
