7 Things You NEED to Know Before Going on Vacation by a House Sitting Specialist

The Spring and Summer are ideal times of year to vacation with loved ones and friends.  But have you ever left your home unattended for a week and felt a bit uneasy about it?  This is the #1 service we are requested to perform during the summer months.

Here are your 7 tips  to utilize before leaving your home this vacation season…

• Stop your mail and newspapers
• Reduce the number of rings on your phone so that your voice-mail picks up right away
• Place all valuables into a safe
• Leave curtains and blinds in their normal position: Pulling them down will potentially alert a burglar to your absence
• Alert a neighbor ( be sure to leave a contact # in case of emergency )
• Lock up: Check all doors and windows twice!
• Unplug all unnecessary appliances, lights, computers, cable box etc. This will not only save on electricity, but potentially save a costly appliance during a storm.
