Disappearance Of Bucks County Woman Under Investigation: D.A.

"We have some leads that we're working on. We're still hopeful that we can find Ms. Capaldi alive, but we're prepared for any eventuality."

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing Sellersville woman who disappeared from her home near High and Church streets more than two week ago.

During a press conference on Wednesday with the Perkasie Borough Police Department, Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub announced an investigation into the whereabouts of Elizabeth "Beth" Capaldi who went missing in the early morning hours of Oct. 10 from her home where she resided with her husband.

Weintraub said Capaldi was reported missing on Oct. 12 by her daughter after her family "uncharacteristically had not heard from her for those two days." She had last been seen by her husband, said the D.A.

A few of her personal belongings, including her wallet, were missing from her home, however most of her other belongings, including her cell phone, her keys to the house and to the car and the car itself were left behind, said the district attorney.

"That's highly unusual behavior, obviously," said Weintraub. "Ms. Capaldi had not been known to travel outside of the area by herself. She mainly stayed in or around her house in Sellersville unless she was running errands or with other family members. That is why we are so concerned," he said.

"It's just been my experience that people don't go missing unless they intend to go missing or there was a horrific accident or there was some terrible foul play," said Weintraub. "None of those three options are great, but even if Ms. Capaldi is intentionally missing by her own design, we would want her to know there's a lot of people who are worried about her. But we certainly would also want to know if any of those two far worse options were the case."

Capaldi is 55 years old. She's five feet, six inches tall with brown and gray hair and hazel eyes. She has been entered into a national database of missing persons.

"We do have some leads that we're working on. We're still hopeful that we can find Ms. Capaldi alive, but we're prepared for any eventuality," said Weintraub. "We don't abandon hope until there's no hope left. We're leaving every option open."

Weintraub put out a plea to the public to come forward with any information that might help with the investigation.

"We'd like to know any scrap of information no matter how great or insignificant it is," he said. "Let us determine the value of that information which can sometimes lead to other information."

If anyone has seen her or observed anything out of the ordinary report that information to the Bucks County Detectives at 215-348-6354 and Perkasie Borough Police Department at 215-257-6876 or submit a tip via email to buckscrimetips@buckscounty.org.

"We continue to hold out hope that we can find Beth Capaldi and reunite her with her family, but we are not ruling anything out at this time," said Weintraub.
