BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) have awarded more than $206,000 in state grants to 12 fire companies and EMS units serving the 143rd legislative district.
The grants were announced by State Rep. Shelby Labs, who represents the 143rd House District in Harrisburg.
The grant program, established by the General Assembly, provides ongoing support for Pennsylvania's local emergency response organizations. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner administer the program.
"Local fire and EMS companies form the backbone of public safety in our communities," said Rep. Labs. "These grants will help the organizations serving our district continue upgrading equipment, supporting training and meeting the everyday demands of emergency response. I am grateful for the work they do and pleased to see this funding come back to our area."
Eligible uses for these grants include construction or renovation of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, training, and recruitment efforts. Funds can also be used for retention efforts, public education, and debt reduction. All funding for the program is sourced from slot machine gaming revenue, not General Fund tax dollars.
