DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan has officially appointed Jack Slattery as Chief of the Bucks County Detectives. Slattery had served as the bureau’s acting chief since January.

Slattery replaces Chief Greg Beidler, who retired at the end of 2025. A veteran with more than 23 years of law enforcement experience within Bucks County, Slattery has served as the bureau’s deputy chief since 2019.

His permanent appointment ensures a seamless transition for the investigative arm of the District Attorney’s Office, said DA Khan.

Chief Slattery’s promotion follows years of specialized preparation for executive leadership. In 2022, he graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, an intensive 10-week program designed to provide upper-level instruction in law enforcement management, ethics, and strategic planning.

“Jack Slattery is a consummate professional who has spent his entire career preparing for this level of responsibility,” said District Attorney Joe Khan. “His recent leadership as interim chief, combined with his elite training, makes him uniquely qualified to lead our detectives. He understands the complexities of modern policing and has the tactical and administrative expertise to keep Bucks County safe.”

Slattery’s service to the county began in 2003 with the Bristol Township Police Department, where he spent nearly a decade as a patrol officer and detective.

Since joining the Bucks County Detectives in 2012, he has been a pillar of the bureau. He served as a county detective before being named deputy chief in 2019. He served in that role until this year.

The appointment has been met with high praise from the local law enforcement community.

Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla, president of the Police Chiefs' Association of Bucks County, highlighted Slattery’s reputation as a collaborator and innovator.

"I am thrilled to see Jack Slattery appointed as chief," Chief Bartorilla said. "He has built a reputation as a skilled investigator, a strong leader, and a true professional. I am confident that under his leadership, the county detectives will continue to excel while advancing new ideas that will further strengthen an already outstanding investigative unit."

Reflecting on his new role, Chief Slattery emphasized the importance of teamwork and partnership in achieving justice.

“I’m truly humbled by this opportunity,” said Chief Slattery. “I want to thank District Attorney Khan for the trust he is placing in me. I’m very proud to continue working alongside our excellent attorneys, detectives, professional staff, and law enforcement partners to protect the citizens of Bucks County.”

The Bucks County Detectives serve as the primary investigative agency for the District Attorney’s Office. The bureau consists of sworn law enforcement officers who provide specialized assistance to municipal police departments in complex matters, including homicides, narcotics trafficking, and economic crimes.
