HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Woman’s Place will celebrate a major milestone with its 50th Anniversary Golden Soirée on May 28 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Pearl S. Buck House, bringing together community members and supporters for an evening of reflection and renewed commitment.
The event will celebrate and honor five decades of service to women and children impacted by domestic violence.
The evening will be especially meaningful as all four founding mothers — who established A Woman’s Place in 1976 — will be in attendance. Their vision was born out of a clear and urgent need to provide women in the community experiencing abuse a place to turn.
Originally founded in Sellersville as a drop-in center, the organization’s trajectory changed following a pivotal moment. After responding to a domestic violence call, a local police officer contacted one of the founders about a woman and her two young children who had no safe place to go.
In response, the founders quickly converted a small apartment attached to the drop-in center into the organization’s first shelter, creating a lifeline that would grow into a comprehensive network of services over the next 50 years.
The Golden Soirée will highlight the organization’s legacy, recognize key supporters, and reaffirm its mission to ensure that no one experiencing abuse is left without support.
Among those in attendance will be celebrity guest Garry Cobb, former Eagles linebacker and Fox Sports analyst, and his wife, Gwendolyn. They will mingle with guests and offer remarks during the event.

The evening will also include cocktails, small bites, and a silent and live auction. Garden party attire is suggested.
"This anniversary belongs to our entire community — the founders who had the vision, the staff and volunteers who showed up every day, and the survivors who trusted us with their most vulnerable moments," said Abby Leafe, board president. "The Golden Soirée is our chance to honor that collective commitment and carry it forward into the next 50 years."
