BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks250PA officially launched the Revolutionary War Trail of Bucks County on April 29 at the Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitor Center in Upper Makefield. The print map highlights the county’s historic role in the American Revolution, with additional digital versions of Heritage, Abolitionist and Lenape Trails.
Developed by the Bucks250PA Legacy Committee in partnership with the Bucks County Herald and Bucks County Planning Commission, the trails were created to highlight the rich and diverse history Bucks County has to offer as the United States of America commemorates its 250th birthday.
The Legacy Committee, comprised of Bucks250PA commission members Teresa Androutsos, Jennifer Martin, and Shirley Lee Corsey, spearheaded the project, working with historical sites across the county to gather information. The result is an educational and travel resource designed to be preserved and utilized well beyond the Semiquincentennial.
“We’re proud to share the Revolutionary War Trail with the community,” said Teresa Androutsos, Bucks250PA Vice Chair and a member of the Bucks County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. “We created these trails to highlight Bucks County’s rich and diverse history, and hope they serve as a lasting educational resource for our residents and visitors for generations to come.”
The printed Revolutionary War Trail Map, designed by the Bucks County Herald, features key sites connected to the American Revolution, along with a QR code linking to an expanded digital experience, which is available to view and download here. A limited number of printed maps will be distributed to select historical sites throughout Bucks County leading up to July 2026.
Interactive digital versions of the Revolutionary War, Heritage, Abolitionist, and Lenape trails, are hosted by the Bucks County Planning Commission, and are accessible via smartphone, tablet, or desktop here. The digital platform allows users to explore the sites, access additional content, and navigate the trails in an engaging and user-friendly format.
The launch event brought together Bucks250PA board members, nonprofit affiliates, and supporters along with representatives from America250PA, staff from the Bucks County Planning Commission, and historical sites. The event preceded America250PA’s Lecture250 Series program, “The Writing of the Declaration and What It Meant in 1776”.
The creation of the Revolutionary War Trail and accompanying digital experiences was made possible through an America250PA Semiquincentennial Grant, along with Bucks250PA Supporters.
