WARRINGTON, PA —Warrington Township's first responders are rolling up their sleeves for Thursday's Battle of the Badges blood drive and they're challenging the community to join the friendly competition.

The Battle of the Badges is a friendly, high-stakes blood donation competition between police and firefighters organized by the American Red Cross to boost blood supplies.

Here's how it works.

Police and fire departments compete to see who can recruit the most blood donors. When residents give blood, they will vote for either the police or the firefighters, with the winning department earning bragging rights and a trophy.

Donors are encouraged to make appointments in advance. Appointments can be scheduled online at redcrossblood.org using the sponsor code bbwarrington, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Appointments can also be made by clicking here.

Donors will receive a $20 Amazon eGift card as a thank-you for giving blood.

"We still have plenty of open appointment slots," said the first responders. "Everyone is encouraged to roll up their sleeves and make a difference. Every donation has the potential to save lives.”
