LAHASKA, PA — For the second year, Skip's Candy Corner in Peddlers Village has been nominated as one of the best candy stores in the nation by USA Today.
"Once a small homemade candy store in Eastern Pennsylvania, Skip's Candy Corner now has a large manufacturing facility that is completely nut-free," said the newspaper in nominating the store. "Skip's most popular treats include caramels, caramel marshmallows, gourmet chocolate pretzels, and sea salt bark. Candy is sold online, in numerous candy stores throughout the East Coast, and in the family's original candy store in Lahaska."
Twenty shops from across the nation, including Skip's, have been nominated by USA Today's panel of experts for the People's Choice Awards, which will be determined by online voting. The experts said these shops stand out "because they offer a variety of delicious treats that you won't always find in big chains or supermarkets. They also provide opportunities to discover new flavors, support local businesses, and enjoy a fun and nostalgic experience."
Online voting to determine the People's Choice winners, the final rankings and the best store in the nation continues through Monday, June 8, at 11:59 a.m. One vote can be cast each day.

Skip’s Candy Corner opened in Peddler’s Village in 1993. At that time, they were located in the yard of Shop No. 1. Some of their favorite candies were made on the second floor.
Over the years, the shop outgrew the location, and moved to its present, larger shop in Peddler’s Village on Street Road, Shop No. 27. The larger store, with three floors, allowed the shop to offer more products to its customers. Additionally, customers could now view candy and fudge being made from the middle level of the shop.
