Firefighters Knock Down Brush Fire On Route 611 Bypass In Doylestown

Fire prompts a warning from fire officials to avoid tossing discarded cigarette butts from their car and truck windows.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Returning from a stuck elevator call on Progress Drive, the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 reported a brush fire Monday morning in the median on the Route 611 Bypass north of New Britain Road.

An alarm call brought Rescue 19 and Engine 19 to the scene at 9:28 a.m. Using hose lines, the firefighters quickly extinguished the smoldering fire.

Firefighters are urging people to use caution in the dry conditions and refrain from discarding cigarette butts, which can quickly catch dry vegetation on fire.
