In the Democratic Primary, voters went to the polls to pick between Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie of Falls Township and Lucia Simonelli of Quakertown as their candidate for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania's 1st District.

Here are the latest numbers:

Bob Harvie - 22,156

Lucia Simonelli -11,763

Simonelli is a researcher, educator and scientific advisor to the U.S. Senate, working on energy and climate policy. She was born in Lansdale and now lives in Quakertown.

"Good policy is policy that serves the people, not just party leaders, billionaires, or corporations," she says. "But bad politics keep getting in the way of good policy, concentrating power in the hands of the few and eroding our faith in the political process. Together, we can take our power back, restore trust, and generate the energy and excitement necessary to build a different and better future."

Harvie, a former Falls Township Supervisor and currently a Bucks County Commissioner, said he's running "because families from Bucks and Montgomery Counties deserve a representative who actually fights for them, and Brian Fitzpatrick isn't doing that. He talks about being an independent voice, but when it counts, Fitzpatrick follows Trump’s orders. At the end of last year, Brian Fitzpatrick cast the deciding vote for a budget bill that guts Medicaid, slashes SNAP benefits, and takes health care away from working families, and then he turned around and held a fundraiser with Speaker Mike Johnson."

The winner of the Democratic Primary will face incumbent Republican Brian Fitzpatrick and Libertarian Jamie Frost Remmey in the November election. Fitzpatrick is running unopposed in the May Primary.
