DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks Lightning overcame a 6-4 halftime deficit to defeat perennial powerhouse Springfield-Delco to capture the Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association's A1 championship.
The 12-9 win for the seventh and eighth grade players came beneath the lights at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken last Friday night.
Both teams entered the contest undefeated and displayed skill and intensity throughout the game, but it was the Central Bucks team that persevered, rallying from its halftime deficit to claim its fifth consecutive championship having won at C1 (2022), B1 (2023), B1 (2024), A1 (2025), and A1 (2026).
While the team had no designated MVP, the player would probably have singled out goalie Kyle Williams who made a significant impact for the team in the net position.
Making the win especially sweet was that it was over Springfield-Delco, which had been the juggernaut for two decades until Central Bucks came along five years and dethroned the Delco dynasty.
"It's quite an accomplish for these young men. There could not have been a better ending," said dad James Sperance.
