DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Historical Society continues its celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday with an evening of music, history and community.
The society will be teaming up with the Doylestown Lions Club to stage the event in conjunction with the Lions Club Summer Concert Series.
The event takes place indoors on Thursday, July 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at Covenant Church, 4000 Route 202, Doylestown. The event had originally been scheduled at Broad Commons Park but has been moved inside due to the weather.
The special evening will include a performance by the Doylestown Heat, the reading of the Declaration of Independence by local officials, complimentary birthday cake celebrating America’s 250th, a sign the Declaration of Independence display, and Kona Ice.
The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4 with a town-wide bell ringing at noon.
“Whether you’re at home, at work, at church, or gathered with friends and family, help us fill the air with the sound of freedom,” said the historians. “Wherever you are, be part of history. Ring a bell for America.”
