Fire Rips Through Recycling Facility In New Britain Township

NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A fire on Thursday destroyed the headquarters of a waste recycling facility at 1510 Swamp Road.

Just before 6 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a building fire at Doylestown Waste Recycling. The alarm was quickly upgraded to a fully involved building fire.

The Dublin Volunteer Fire Company established command and directed fire operations at the scene.

Firefighters from throughout the region and from neighboring New Jersey spent hours at the site, first battling the blaze using ladder trucks, hose lines, tanker trucks, and aerial suppression, and then performing mop-up operations.

The New Hope Eagle Fire Company responded with tanker 46 to assist with water shuttle operations. The tanker delivered 28,000 gallons of water to the scene with seven shuttle loops.

In a social media posting, Doylestown Waste Recycling thanked the fire companies, first responders and volunteers who came to extinguish the fire at our DWR facility.

“It is a brutal realization you have when 8 years of building DWR into what it was be destroyed in a matter of hours.
We are grateful that no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

“We are even more grateful for the community around us that showed up to offer a helping hand in what was a chaotic scene. We will be back.”
