Major Grants Awarded To Projects in Plumstead, New Britain Township

BUCKS COUNTY, PA – More than $1.2 million in state funding has been announced for two projects in Plumsttead and in New Britain Township.

The grants - $500,000 for DiaVac Biotech Company in Plumstead and $750,000 to Doylestown Waste Recycling in New Britain Township - were announced jointly by State Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) and State Representative Shelby Labs (R-143) .

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funds for DiaVac Biotech Company will support prevailing-wage eligible activities including architectural/engineering services, project management, permitting, bonding, general conditions, cleanroom and laboratory build-outs, specialized casework and biosafety hoods, mechanical/plumbing/fire suppression, HVAC, electrical systems, and insurance/safety.

"This investment in DiaVac Biotech will support research, create good-paying jobs, and strengthen Pennsylvania's life sciences sector," said Senator Santarsiero. "By funding the specialized infrastructure needed for cleanrooms and laboratories, we're helping grow a company that contributes to public health innovation and long-term economic development in our region."

RACP funds will also support planned facility upgrades including the demolition of Doylestown Waste Recycling's current recycling facility, and the construction of a new facility over the same footprint. The new building will house a picking station that allows recycled materials to be sorted from non-recycled materials, and a grinder that reduces the volume of such materials. The new facility will also feature an underground stormwater collection basin.

"Modernizing our recycling infrastructure is an important step in addressing climate change and protecting our natural resources here in the 10th Senate District," said Senator Santarsiero. "These upgrades at Doylestown Waste Recycling will improve material recovery, reduce landfill waste, and strengthen stormwater management at the site. I'm proud to support this project that will help lower emissions, protect local waterways, and move our region toward a more sustainable future."

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. Local investment is required to receive an RACP grant.
