DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Thompson Performing Arts Series will turn up the radio this week on the hits of the 60s and early 70s when the tribute band, AM Radio, takes the stage.
The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 at the C&N Bank Amphitheater at Doylestown's Central Park.
Have you ever perked up when the radio plays a song that first hit popular stations when you were in middle school or high school? Do you turn the volume up and sing along when your favorite song comes on the radio?
The AM Radio Tribute Band plays "all the songs you grew up listening to and even the ones you've forgotten."
The band mimics the music and vocals of the bands "with an uncanny likeness to the original recordings as you'll ever hear - live," says the band's website.
"Be prepared for a ride in the way back machine, as we emulate the sounds, voices, appearances, slogans, images, and styles in authentic detail with outfits ranging from mod dress to multi-colored flower power, psychedelic tie-dye shirts, go-go boots, long hair, and an amazing energy that urges you travel back to one of the most creative decades of our time," band leaders say.
"Feel yourself begin to turn on, tune in and experience what it was like to be a part of a generation that exploded like a pressure cooker full of color, creativity, and love."
In addition to live music, the Thompson Performing Arts series features a weekly beer garden by Warwick Farm Brewing and a variety of food trucks. This week's food trucks include Hot Diggity Dog Cart, Jack and Jill, Kona Ice and
Scratch Fry Kitchen.
The free musical series is sponsored by The Thompson Organization which is made up of four dealerships - Thompson Toyota, BMW of Doylestown, Thompson Lexus Doylestown, and Thompson Lexus Willow Grove, as well as Thompson Detail Center and Thompson Collision Center.
