Outstanding Warrants, Retail Thefts End In Arrests: Warrington Police Report

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Warrington Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests in July, including the capture of a wanted man and more arrests for retail theft.

Wanted Man Taken Off The Streets

During a traffic stop at Easton and Oakfield Road, police arrested a 42-year-old Warrington man on an outstanding warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department. During a traffic stop for an obscured license plate, the driver produced an expired New Jersey driver's license. Upon checking his information, officers learned he had an active warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department. The driver was placed under arrest, was transported to the station and then to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. The officer filed traffic citations for traffic control devices and display of registration.

Theft Of Headphones Leads To Arrest

Police were called to the Walmart store for a report of a retail theft. Loss prevention officers told police that a 35-year-old woman from Langhorne was observed concealing several items while inside the store. She then proceeded to the self-checkout registers, where an unknown individual paid for the merchandise she had removed from concealment. However, the woman kept a pair of headphones valued at $19.98 concealed. She then passed all points of sale without paying for the headphones and was stopped by loss prevention and police. Loss prevention produced some of the headphone package that the woman had discarded. She was escorted to the loss prevention office. Police placed the woman under arrest and transported her to the station, where she was processed and released.

Familiar Face Leads to Retail Theft Arrest

Warrington Police were called to Wegmans for the report of a retail theft. Upon arrival, officers met with loss prevention personnel, who related that they recognized a 22-year-old North Wales man from a previous incident. Loss prevention observed him select $163.18 worth of merchandise from throughout the store and place the items into a shopping cart. He then exited the store without paying for the merchandise in the cart. Loss prevention escorted the man back to the office. He was placed under arrest by police and was transported to the station, where he was processed and released.

Traffic Stop Leads To Warrant Arrests

A Warrington officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle with a bent license plate that obscured all but the first three characters. During the stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, including copper mesh pads commonly used to ingest narcotics. As officers requested information, 45-year-old Ashley Tradewell of Doylestown was seen moving items around the vehicle in an apparent attempt to conceal the paraphernalia. Officers also observed tin foil and glassine baggies in the rear seat. A records check revealed that the rear passenger, 42-year-old Louise Gillis of Philadelphia, had an active Montgomery County warrant, and a search incident to her arrest uncovered a glass pipe with suspected narcotics residue. A records check revealed Tradewell also had an active warrant from Bucks County Probation. Gillis was released to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, while Tradewell was transported to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
