BUCKINGHAM, PA — Bucks County ice cream lovers have a big reason to celebrate. Flemington, N.J.-based Humdoo Ice Cream is opening its second location on Saturday, August 8, in Buckingham.

Located at the former Candlewyck on Durham Road, Humdoo Buckingham is planning a day-long celebration from noon to 10 p.m. featuring live music and lots and lots of ice cream.

"After years of dreaming, months of construction, and what feels like a million setbacks, Humdoo Buckingham officially opens on Saturday, and we seriously can't wait to celebrate with you," shop owner Gabriella Truppi posted on Facebook.

The new shop will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate with live music by Gunnar Teel, a free small ice cream for the first 50 guests, the Humdoo Hook Up mech and punch card sale, and a Stuff Your Tumbler promotion (bring a 16- to 40 ounce tumbler and for $17 take home up to 2.5 pounds of ice cream).

"This isn't just another store opening. It's a huge milestone for our little business, and we'd love nothing more than to spend the day celebrating with the community that made it possible," said Truppi

The shop will be offering its full Humdoo menu and debuting its exclusive Buckingham Soda Bar featuring dirty soda, floats, fizzies, and a whole lot more.

"Whether you've been following along since day one or you're discovering Humdoo for the first time, we'd love for you to celebrate this milestone with us. This shop has been a dream in the making, and we're so excited to finally share it with the Buckingham community," said Truppi.

Earlier this year, Patch reported exclusively that Truppi, the founder and owner of Humdoo Ice Cream in Flemington, N.J., had signed a lease to bring her ice cream treats to the former site of the Candlewyck on Durham Road.

"This is beyond exciting," said Truppi, who opened her Flemington store five years ago.

Truppi said she'll be bringing all of the store's favorites to Buckingham, including 24 flavors of hand-scooped hard ice cream complemented by milkshakes, fizzies, and ice cream cakes.

"Our ice cream is considered super premium. In order to be considered ice cream, it has to have 10 percent butterfat. Our ice cream is about 14 to 16 percent," said Truppi.

Their top sellers include flavors like Lemon Bar, Chocoholic and Campfire S'mores.

"The first one I ever ordered and the one we will always have because it's so near and dear to my heart is lemon bar. It's incredible," she said.

What you won't find at the shop are peanuts and tree nuts. The store will be peanut- and tree-nut-free for those, like her little sister, who are highly allergic.

"Growing up, it was upsetting watching her be left out, so when I opened my business I wanted to make sure it was something my sister could enjoy as well," said Truppi.

The name of the store also comes from her little sister. "When she was a baby, she didn't call it ice cream. She called it humdoo. So growing up, that's what we called ice cream in my house."

Truppi said because the store is peanut- and tree-nut-free, the shop features a lot of unique flavors and combinations that you won't find anywhere else.

"In the ice cream industry, the peanut flavors are the most popular, so that's what's produced the most," said Truppi. "So we had to get really creative about what we source, so we do a lot of fruity flavors, which are incredibly good. My favorite right now is banana pudding. It's delicious," she said.

"I'm also a big advocate for combining flavors to make something new," she added. "Lemon bar and blueberry waffle cone is one of my favorite combinations. It's super good. The chocoholic and the banana pudding are also incredible together. It's like a chocolate-covered banana on steroids."
