WARRINGTON, PA — A Willow Grove man is facing retail theft charges after stealing high-priced steak and seafood from the Wegmans store at Valley Square.
On July 30, police were called to the store for a report of a retail theft that had just occurred. The store's loss prevention officer reported that an unknown man had selected ribeye steak and crab cakes and concealed the merchandise inside a reusable bag.
The 37-year-old man then exited the store while failing to pay for the $162.97 worth of merchandise he had concealed. He fled the area before officers arrived.
The store provided police with a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which assisted police in tracking him down. A criminal complaint was subsequently filed at District Court.
On August 6, the man was stopped by Abington Township Police and taken into custody. He was transported to Warrington where he was processed by police. He was also arraigned by Judge Falcone, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured.
