Firefighters Assist Police With Incident At Vacant Doylestown Grocery Store

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Doylestown Fire Company was called to the Mercer Square Shopping Center on Tuesday to assist the Doylestown Township Police Department with an incident involving juveniles.

The firefighters responded with Tower 79 to assist police in removing two juveniles from the roof of the closed Weis Market store, the fire department reported on Facebook. Engine 19 and Rescue 19 assisted on the call.

The juveniles had apparently gained entry to the building and had been committing acts of criminal mischief inside the vacant store, fire officials said.

The incident tied up valuable resources for more than an hour, fire officials reported.

It was not immediately known if the juveniles were charged or referred to a youth aid panel.
