DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —The Billy Joel Tribute Band - River of Dreams - is next to take the stage as the Thompson Performing Arts Series continues its free summer concerts at Doylestown's Central Park.
The band will take the stage beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26 at the Central Park Amphitheater with its tribute to the "Piano Man" himself, Billy Joel, who released 12 studio albums from 1971 to 1993 spanning the genres of rock and pop and introducing the world to hundreds of now classic tunes.
The song catalog of Billy Joel - the scrappy kid who was born in NYC and grew up on Long Island - is quite amazing. Epic even. Twelve studio albums with one jewel after another, and when a live band can perform these songs and get people to sing along, it is pure magic.
"River Of Dreams faithfully recreates the sound and the feel of those classic songs," says the band's website. "With a real love and respect for the music, Mike and his band bring life to such standards as: Angry Young Man, You May Be Right, Allentown, Captain Jack, New York State of Mind, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, We Didn't Start The Fire, Only The Good Die Young, The Ballad of Billy the Kid, It's Still Rock & Roll To Me and more.
"We are not impersonators. Our aim is to honor the aesthetics of Billy Joel's iconic sound and honor his unique place in music history," the band points out. "Spend an evening with the memories and the magic. Spend an evening with River of Dreams and the music of Billy Joel."
In addition to live music, the Thompson Performing Arts series features a weekly beer garden by Warwick Farm Brewing and a variety of food trucks.
The free musical series is sponsored by The Thompson Organization, which is made up of four dealerships - Thompson Toyota, BMW of Doylestown, Thompson Lexus Doylestown, and Thompson Lexus Willow Grove, as well as Thompson Detail Center and Thompson Collision Center.
Mark your calendar for the Fall Food Truck Festival on September 20. Music will be by the Cherry Lane Band.
