DOYLESTOWN, PA — Concerts at the Commons returns every Thursday in September to Broad Commons Park off of Broad and Doyle Streets in the Doylestown Borough.
With over 5,000 total attendees in May, the series transforms the former PennDOT yard into an amphitheater to enjoy free live music, food trucks, beverages, and fun for all ages.
Headlining night one is jazz trombonist, vocalist, and bandleader Hailey Brinnel. Her critically acclaimed sophomore album "Beautiful Tomorrow" was released in March 2023 and received a 4-star review from DownBeat Magazine.
Brinnel's music is rooted firmly in the original intentions of 1920s-1940s jazz, arranged such that the energy is preserved, but new life is breathed into it. Doylestown's own Andrea Carlson & the Love Police kick off the show with their vintage French jazz stylings.
More Doylestown locals, Ceramic Animal, take the stage on night two. Merging a kaleidoscope of sounds that span glam, post-punk, psych rock, and 70s pop, the band is comprised of real life brothers, Chris (vocals, guitar), Erik (drums), and Elliott (vocals, keys) Regan, alongside childhood friends Anthony Marchione (guitar) and Dallas Hosey (vocals, bass).
The band will perform two sets, including cuts from their latest album "Cosmic Eraser," which stands as an evolution from their critically acclaimed "Sweet Unknown" album produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
19-year-old Aston native and former America's Got Talent contestant, Dylan Zangwill, performs an acoustic and electric set on September 17th joined by special guest Johnny Zarfati. His latest single "World On Fire" was released in June, and has been championed by 88.5 WXPN.
Folk rockers Driftwood, with special guest openers Kaitlynn Casper & the Night Bloom, take the stage on the final night. The TileWorks Bluegrass series co-presents the performance ahead of their final bluegrass show of the season on Sunday, September 27.
Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chair or blanket to the pet-friendly, free concert event. Hops/Scotch will be providing beverages, with a variety of food and dessert trucks each night. Free parking will be available in the nearby Bucks County Parking Garage.
Bucks County-based live music nonprofit, Stage United, produces the concerts in collaboration with Doylestown Borough. "Stage United is so excited to bring these concerts to life again alongside the Doylestown Borough," says Stage United's Joe Montone. "We are blown away by the receptivity to the music and experience!"
