Fall is officially here in Doylestown, and there's no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what's happening close to home.

Where: Hellerick's Adventure Farm, 5500 N. Easton Road, Doylestown
For a classic fall farm day close to home, Hellerick's Adventure Farm Fall Festival runs throughout October and into November. General admission includes the farm's 18-acre Adventure Farm, with a wagon ride, 5-acre corn maze, farm animals, slides, an obstacle course and dozens of other activities. Pumpkins, squash and gourds are available, and the farm has live music and food scheduled on weekends throughout October, including Oct. 24, 25 and 31.
When: Saturdays in October, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: South Hamilton Street, between West Oakland Avenue and West State Street, Doylestown
The Doylestown Farmers Market continues every Saturday through Nov. 21, giving shoppers plenty of chances to stock up on fall produce and locally made goods. The market features roughly two dozen vendors each week with produce, meat, eggs, bread, baked goods, coffee, crafts and more. October market dates include Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, with live music scheduled each week.
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Mercer Museum, 84 S. Pine St., Doylestown
Browse handmade goods, vintage finds, art and more during The Craftery Market at the Mercer Museum. The free outdoor market is set for the green outside the museum and is expected to feature more than 50 vendors, along with food and live music.
When: Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Where: Bucks County Administration Building lawn, 55 E. Court St., Doylestown
Costumes take over downtown Doylestown during the annual Spooktacular Costume Contest & Parade. Check-in and registration begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the award ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and trick-or-treating through downtown beginning at 11:15 a.m. Organizers strongly encourage advance registration for the costume contest.
When: Through Monday, Oct. 26
Where: Peddler's Village, 2400 Street Road, New Hope
More than 100 handmade scarecrows line the walkways of Peddler's Village during the annual Scarecrows in the Village display. The free attraction runs daily through Oct. 26, making it an easy fall outing for families who want to stroll the village, check out the displays and stop for shopping or a meal.
When: Select days through Friday, Oct. 30
Where: Shady Brook Farm, 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley
FallFest at Shady Brook Farm offers another full-scale fall outing within driving distance of Doylestown. The seasonal event includes more than 25 farm attractions, pumpkin picking, wagon rides, a corn maze, live entertainment and other activities. After dark, visitors can also find seasonal attractions including Eerie Illuminations, a Halloween light show, along with the Moonlit Maze, Haunted Barn and Alien Encounter.
