BUCKS COUNTY, PA — For generations of shoppers, Tuesdays and Saturdays were reserved for a trip to Rice's Market in Solebury. On Tuesday, the owners announced that the market will be closing at the end of the year after more than 100 years in business.
Meanwhile, the Newtown Business Association on Thursday announced its first-ever Restaurant Week, taking place from Oct. 12 to 18. The event will feature special dishes, desserts and drinks at 30 restaurants, bars and eateries in the greater Newtown area.

Rice's Market, a Bucks County shopping tradition for generations, will be closing its doors at the end of the year. The owners announced the closing of the indoor/outdoor flea market on Greenhill Road in a Facebook post on Tuesday. "After over a hundred years of being part of this community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors at the end of the year," they wrote.

A multi-million-dollar redevelopment project that will bring 43,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant uses to the Barn Plaza is beginning to take shape on Route 611 at the former Regal Cinema site in Doylestown Township. When completed, the shopping center extension will introduce an eclectic mix of top national retailers, restaurants and eateries to the northern end of the Barn Plaza, which is anchored by Whole Foods and Kohl's Department Store.

The Newtown Business Association (NBA) will debut its first-ever NBA Restaurant Week October 12–18, inviting residents and visitors to explore the area's dining scene while supporting local businesses. Presented by Salucca LLC, the weeklong event features 30 participating eateries, including restaurants, cafés, bakeries and beverage destinations, offering prix fixe options, special menus and featured offerings.

Something new and delicious is coming to the Shops at Valley Square in Warrington. Located between Painting With A Twist and LensCrafters, "House Of Desserts: Mango Mango" is slated to open sometime this fall at the Easton Road shopping center. "Mango Mango is packing our bags (and our mangoes) and heading to Pennsylvania," the store posted on Instagram. "Get ready to fall in love with our iconic mango sago juice bowls, dreamy crepe cakes, and smoothie-o's that live rent-free in your head. Oh, and did we mention new pastries and snowclouds (aka the shaved ice of your dreams) are joining the lineup too?"

The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 80th anniversary with an open house and by cutting the ribbon on its new headquarters at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center in Buckingham. "The room was packed, the conversations were flowing, the music was playing, the prize wheel was spinning, and the networking was next level," the chamber reports. "80 years of supporting local businesses, building connections, and strengthening our community — and we're just getting started!"
