QUAKERTOWN, PA — Quakertown Borough is getting a $1 million federal grant for a comprehensive revitalization of its downtown district, including modernizing infrastructure, improving accessibility and public safety, and strengthening the foundation for long-term economic growth and community development.
The funding, secured by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, will build on Quakertown's ongoing downtown revitalization efforts by enhancing public spaces, improving essential infrastructure, and creating a more accessible and welcoming downtown.
"Across Bucks and Montgomery counties, our Main Streets are the pulse of our communities — supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and giving each of our towns its distinct character," said Fitzpatrick. "For years, I've worked alongside business owners and community leaders to ensure our historic downtowns are not simply preserved, but positioned to prosper."
He continued, "In Quakertown, Borough leaders, local businesses, and residents have demonstrated tremendous initiative in revitalizing their downtown and laying the groundwork for future growth. Together, we identified the infrastructure improvements needed to build on that momentum, attract new investment, and expand economic opportunity, and I was proud to secure $1 million to help advance those efforts. I'm grateful for their partnership, and look forward to building on this progress together as Quakertown continues to thrive."
Remarking on the significance of the funding, Doug Propst, Quakertown Borough Director of Finance, said, "The Borough of Quakertown is extremely grateful to receive this $1 million investment from the federal government. These funds will be used in the borough's continued efforts to improve the downtown for residents, businesses, and visitors to Quakertown. We are especially grateful to Congressman Fitzpatrick for his efforts in obtaining this funding and commitment to the continued improvement of the community."
The Quakertown Borough Streetscape Improvement Project will make targeted investments in the infrastructure and public spaces that support a vibrant, accessible, and economically resilient downtown, said borough officials.
