What a great weekend of food, music, festival, and oh yeah... some sweet bike racing! The weather was blue-bird and 70 degrees all weekend, and with it came big crowds to see this fantastic 2 day event taking place right here in the center of town.
Doylestown Bikeworks was out in full force helping riders and racers with SAG support, drivers, mechanics, etc. We made sure that road Marshals were out on course and all racers were safe before, during, and after the race. When an issue came up, Dan, Kirk, Egil and Fran were on it! On Sunday DBW support helped keep a racer who had a bad wheel in contention for a good finish. During the Cycle-Sportif, our staff was out there providing help with directions and mechanical issues to the participating riders.
Meanwhile the DBW tent was buzzing with activity around our new lineup of bikes from Bianchi, Breezer, Jamis and Fuji. It was fun to watch people of all types wanting to learn more about bikes. Of course the fat tyre bike stole all the attention and logged quite a bit of test ride miles. On Sunday the kids race went off and we had a front row seat to the action. Surely there are some future racers in that group!
Down at the spin studio we hosted our very first Mad Dog certification program for people interested in becoming spin instructors. We had 12 future instructors learning what it takes to be Mad Dog Certified from our very own Lynn Day. The spinning program at DBW has been taking off lately, and we can't wait to add more classes to the schedule.
All-in-all is was a great weekend. We got to meet and mingle with a lot of the other local vendors during both days. Feedback from the Thompson organization as well as others was that this was their best event in years. We are all psyched to see cycling continue to grow in our town. Thank you to everybody who visited our town this weekend, without you there wouldn't be an event. As always, many thanks to our employees, volunteers, spouses, and friends who came out and gave us a hand leading up to and during the event. Can't wait to do this again in 2014!
