Community Kicks up Their Heels at “Dance Against Dementia” - Event raises nearly $8,000 to benefit the Dementia Society of America

The Dementia Society of America's 2013 "Dance against Dementia!" was a sold-out success! The event raised nearly $8,000 to help jumpstart the organization’s mission of raising awareness about Dementia and other related disorders. 

100 supporters joined together on October 12 at the Homewood Suites in Warrington, Pa. to enjoy a program of music and dance - those ever important right-brained cognitive therapies.The Dementia Society also presented two awards - recognizing the "Arts for the Manor" program at Neshaminy Manor with its “Long-Term Care Facility”award, and honoring Elizabeth Dougherty of Seniors Helping Seniors of Bucks County, with its In-Home Caregiver of the Year award.

Highlights of the event included several songs by 93-year old former big band singer Harry Prime; tap dancing by 17-year old Justin Ballasy; and an impactful talk from Michael Ellenbogen, who lives with a form of Dementia referred to as Younger Onset Alzheimer's. Entertainment was provided by OnTrac Entertainment and coffee and desserts were provided by Anna P's Catering.
