Doylestown Hospital Receives "Top Hospital" Award From Healthcare Organization

Doylestown Hopsital again is making its presence known nationally as it won recently won an award from a Washington D.C.-based healthcare non profit organization, according to Doylestown Health.

The hospital won the 2016 Top Hospital Award from The Leapfrog Group at a ceremony on Dec. 6.

Doylestown Hospital was one of only 56 general acute hospitals in the nation to receive this award that recognizes hospitals' commitments to patient safety and quality, a press release said.

“This recognition is made possible through a culture of teamwork and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” President and CEO of Doylestown Health Jim Brexler said. “Our selection as one of the very few top hospitals in the country illustrates the depth of dedication by Associates, Medical Staff, Volunteers and Board Members to deliver high quality care every day. The Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospital Award is an affirmation of our commitment to excellence.”

The Leapfrog Top Hospital Award is widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive. The selection of Top Hospitals is based on a survey of performance conducted by The Leapfrog Group. Approximately 1,800 hospitals participated in the survey. Clinical outcomes across all areas of hospital care are considered in determining recipients of the award, including the organization’s commitment to evidence-based best practices for care quality and patient safety.

“Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide,” President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group Leah Binder said. “With this honor, Doylestown Hospital has established its commitment to safer and higher quality care. The Leapfrog Group is a national non-profit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care and was initially formed by large employers and insurers that purchase healthcare services for beneficiaries in order to evaluate the quality and value of services graded on customer experience and satisfaction.
