There will be a free Narcan training program next week in Doylestown.

The program, hosted by The Bucks County Association of Township Officials in partnership with the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission and Doylestown Township, will be held Oct. 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Doylestown Administration Building, 425 Wells Rd, Doylestown.

The program, for residents interested in learning more about the opioid crisis, will include Narcan training by a certified prevention specialist.

Narcan is a prescription medicine that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

A panel discussion, "Tackling the County's Opioid Crisis Panel," will feature Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub, Executive Director of the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission Diane Rosati, and Chairman of the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors Barbara Lyons.

David Fialko, an internationally-certified prevention specialist, will conduct the Narcan training. Fialko oversees the distribution of Narcan and facilitates trainings for participating Bucks County Police Departments.
