At the Y, enjoyment while working with today’s youth isn’t just a summer thing! Many camp counselors and members of the camp leadership team work year-round with children of all ages.
Both Jay DePue and Andrew Yannarella are full-time youth development directors at Central Bucks Family YMCA. During the school year, they work with sports leagues, Y Guides (Father/child scouting program), youth sports classes and teens.
Timothy Newton teaches full time at the Y’s preschool. His enthusiasm for children and making activities fun and engaging will serve him well in his new role as spirit specialist. Maria Schratz (theme specialist) teaches in the Hatboro-Horsham School District and Tyler Mertens (CIT specialist) teaches in the New Hope-Solebury School District. Reading camp counselor Rebekah Massey taught in both the Quakertown and Upper Dublin School Districts and Krista Yannarella (Teen Leaders specialist) teaches in the Quakertown School District.

“We actively seek counselors who have made, or plan to make, working with children their career,” said DePue, Y Camp director. “This year, the camp leadership team is top notch with classroom and school district experience.”
The Y is always seeking the highest caliber of counselors to work with their campers during the summer months. The familiarity garnered in the academic classroom makes for a counselor experienced with all types of youth and situations. The Y strives for a smooth summer transition where fun, respect and safety are paramount.
