YMCA Receives Grant for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program
Central Bucks Family YMCA is the recipient of a $3,000 grant from the Doylestown Rotary to fund conveyance of the Bucks County Community Coalition's Darkness to Light program.
Doylestown Rotary recently announced that Central Bucks Family YMCA is the recipient of a $3000 grant to fund conveyance of the Bucks County Community Coalition’s Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children child sexual abuse training program. The grant will allow the program to provide training to 200 individuals from nonprofit organizations and groups that work with children at no cost.
The grant was accepted by Zane Moore, the Y’s president and CEO, when presented at the Rotary Club of Doylestown’s Four Way Test Breakfast on April 30.
Stewards of Children is a 2-hour prevention program designed for use by youth-serving organizations and all adults committed to the safety of children. It teaches how to recognize, prevent and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. In its role as “convener,” CBFYMCA has brought together representatives from law enforcement, schools, children’s advocacy groups, the medical community, local businesses and elected officials to foster and build support as well as implement the overall training strategies.

Central Bucks Family YMCA is a charitable non-profit organization whose purpose is to improve the quality of community life. The Y utilizes donations and grant funds received through the generosity of the community and local organizations to offer vital programs at little or no charge including a cancer wellness program (THRIVE), free 7th grade memberships and financial assistance available to all who qualify.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity the Rotary has provided. The Stewards of Children training has already helped so many people learn how to recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse,” said Debbie Tettemer, administrator of the D2L program at Central Bucks Family YMCA. “This grant will only allow us to educate more people in the Bucks County area.”
