FARM GROWS BIGGER EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

5th Annual Event Adds One More Day

Phillipsburg NJ —  The 5th Annual Earth Day Celebration at Perfect Christmas Tree Farm in Phillipsburg NJ grows one day longer this year.  The celebration focuses on eco-friendly events that include education and art projects, for adults and children, local foods, green vendors and products, and entertainment for all.

There are a variety of displays and exhibits and endless opportunities for family fun. Mark the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day, with this two-day celebration.

A program of activities that mark the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day features interactive, eco-friendly experiences, designed to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage sustainability. Throughout the two days there are educational booths constructed by local environmental non-profits and small business groups, performances by local and regional musicians, vermicomposting with Red Wiggler worms and gardening experiences, making wildflower Seed Balls and planting strawberry plant in re-purposed containers. There are hay rides and farm animals.

The very popular Drum Circle, where young and old find a common rhythm and drum together, is back. New this year is an ‘Act-out’ play written for Perfect Christmas Tree Farm, where children play the characters. The ever popular Re-Use Market begins at 9 AM, an hour earlier than the Earth Day Celebration start time. Vendors of used merchandise, some vintage and antique, and things made of re-purposed materials, and hand-made goods, set up shop in outdoor spaces. Find, sell, trade, or give away reusable and surplus items that would otherwise be disposed as trash. The goal of the Re-Use Market is to keep clean, reusable materials out of the landfill and put them into the hands of artists, crafters, teachers, and others who can re-purpose them into imaginative works of art as well as useful personal or household items.A free movie, alternative energy demonstrations, hay rides and farm animals, round out the days activities.

There are discussion panels, contests, games, giveaways and much more throughout the two-day event. Earth Day is free and open to all ages. There is a parking fee of $5.00 per vehicle. There is no charge for walk-ins. Perfect Christmas Tree Farm is a dog friendly farm. For more information about vending at the Re-Use Market and to reserve a space contact Sandy Mitchell of Spirit of the Arts Foundation at 973-875-2068 or email sandy@sotafoundation.org.
