Assistance for Free & Reduced Lunch Online Application Completion

Assistance in completing the online application for the free & reduced lunch program is available.

ProJeCt of Easton is coordinating an effort to provide assistance in completing the online application for free and reduced lunch from the Pennsylvania National School Lunch program at schools throughout the Easton Area School District and at ProJeCt’s Fowler Literacy Center. The announcement was made today by ProJeCt’s Social Services Manager Carolyn Engle.

The Pennsylvania National School Lunch Program has encouraged all schools to participate in accepting online applications. The Easton Area School District is one of the first in the state to complete the conversion and is now accepting online applications. Students attending Paxinosa, Cheston and Easton Academy have been pre-certified as eligible and individual applications are not required.

“We know that the thought of completing an online application for this state program may be intimidating to some, and we are here to help,” said Engle who is coordinating the assistance effort. “Volunteers from the newly formed Easton Hunger Coalition will work with applicants to complete the application process, which should take approximately five-10 minutes per child.”

The school district will be sending out instructions to families including the information required in order to complete the application. Assistance will be available September 2 through 12 at various times and locations throughout the school district according to the following schedule:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Palmer, March and Tracy Elementary Schools

Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Forks and Shawnee Elementary Schools

Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Middle and High Schools

Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
ProJeCt Fowler Literacy Center, 200 Ferry Street, Easton (across from the post office)

The application is accessible online at www.paschoolmeals.com. Although paper applications are still being accepted, the online application is the new standard.
