3. Chris Phillips, assistant professor of English at Lafayette College, provides insight into the reading habits of the Library’s earliest patrons in a special bicentennial lecture at noon on Tuesday, November 8.
Original catalogs indicate that the Easton Library Company had more than 4000 volumes in its collection by 1855. Who was reading these books? Phillips’ lecture titled “What Did Eastonians Want to Read? A Look at the Collection of the Easton Library Company, 1811-1860” is the product of a project to digitize circulation records circa 1811-1862. The project is made possible through a partnership between the Library and Lafayette College’s libraries.
