Get "Between the Covers" for Library Reading Program
Why should kids have all the fun? You too can win prizes for reading.
Since Monday the Library has been filled with excited children, clutching books and eager for Summer Reading Program activities to begin. We’ve always wished we could create that fun and spirit for our adult patrons, too.
Then in 2007 Library Director Jennifer Stocker heard about an adult summer reading program at the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport, PA, and decided to try one here. Patrons would win prizes for reading books – just as children do.
An added benefit was that adult readers would serve as role models for their children. “My father often set aside time when we would all read together,” explains Jennifer. “Perhaps parents will turn off the TVs and computers, and everyone will read for an hour.”
