Introducing Water reMarks from Nurture Nature Center
Through its new Water reMarks blog, Nurture Nature Center (NNC) hopes to spark community discussion about the complexities of Easton as a river community and more.

At its Grand Opening on November 1, 2011, ushered in a crowd of close to 300 guests for a night of science, art, food, drink and community.
If you weren’t able to attend that jovial evening, and haven’t been among the nearly 2,000 people who have been through for various events and presentations, you may have wondered what the building at 518 Northampton Street has to offer.
Once home to the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, and later the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Nurture Nature Center building is now a dynamic, multi-purpose facility designed for use by the community.

NNC uses its “science theater” and event space to host events ranging from art shows and story-telling nights to presentations from experts at the National Weather Service to yoga under , called Science on a Sphere™.
Through these presentations, we hope to generate local community dialogue about water resources issues such as flooding, dam removal, weather, climate change, and water quality. We have three distinct galleries to showcase local, regional and national artists.

We have meeting space for workshops, private parties and community happenings. We have the coolest exhibit around for learning about earth and space science. NNC is a living building, a work in progress that requires the community’s use in order to thrive.
Through this new Water reMarks blog, we hope to spark community discussion about the complexities of Easton as a river community and more. We offer Water reMarks as an open and respectful forum for exploring the most important priorities for our local watersheds, and for making the best personal and community decisions for protecting ourselves in the face of water resource risks.
Just like our building, this blog needs your presence to work. Chime in.
THIS WEEK AT NNC we are hosting two talks on climate change by Dr. Dork Sahagian of Lehigh University. Come to 518 Northampton Street on Tuesday, January 24th from 7-9pm for “Climate 101: The Nature of Climate” and on Thursday, January 26th from 7-9pm for “Climate 102: A People Planet.”
