We all know that a resume is your ticket to the job interview. If you don't look good in black-and-white, then no one will call to see you in living color! But writing an effective resume can be a daunting task. You need computer skills, organizational skills and writing skills to give a resume the right look and sound. Since so many skills go into creating an effective resume, you can see why employers use them to screen applicants.
The Easton Area Public Library recently invested in a new tool that will help you craft your resume’s appearance and content to make you look like the star candidate. It’s called Cypress Resume – and it contains a database of job titles with a list of skills necessary to perform each occupation. You simply enter your work history, education, and contact information, and it will list for you well-written blurbs that you can select to add to your document’s content. Afterwards, it organizes everything into a polished-looking, perfectly formatted resume. It’s free and easy to use!
Cypress Resume also offers help with cover letters and reference sheets. If you would like a better understanding of the database's many features, you can also attend one of our free classes, which are running the week of January 23rd – Monday at 2 pm, Tuesday at 6 pm, Thursday at 3 pm and Saturday at 10 am. Call the Reference Department for more information - it's #2 on our phone menu.
