Court Officials: Easton Man Lied About Serving in Iraq

Matthew Williamson, 20, will be resentenced Friday on forgery charges.

An Easton man who told a Northampton County judge during his sentencing that he was an Iraq war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress has found himself in even more trouble.

According to the Associated Press, county court officials say that Matthew Williamson, 20, could not have been in Iraq serving with the Marines when he said he was, because he was apparently in Easton, being charged with stealing his father's credit card at the time.

The AP, citing a Morning Call story, said that Williamson will be sentneced again on Friday on forgery charges. He was given a 3-6 month jail term last week, but that was before the court knew Williamson had apparently fabricated his military service.
