Easton Controller Will Run For District Judge

Tony Bassil scheduled to make his announcement next week.

Easton City Controller Tony Bassil is joining the race for the city's vacant district judge post.

Bassil will announce his campaign next Tuesday in Centre Square, according to a news release. The announcement makes him the fifth candidate for the seat, left open by the death of Judge Gay Elwell.

Since 2006, Bassil has served as Easton's controller. He and his wife, Sia, own the Carmelcorn Shop in Centre Square.

“As a business owner and the city controller, I am committed to serving the City of Easton.  I want to continue serving my community as your Magisterial District Judge," he said in the release.
