Easton Declares Snow Emergency

The city has declared a snow emergency, effective at 3 p.m. today until 3 p.m. Monday.

It asks everyone to move cars from snow emergency routes during that time, and notes that the 3rd Street garage will be open during the emergency.

Roads are slick all around the city, according to several eyewitness reports. The forecast calls for several inches of snow today, so be careful out there.

It looks like the 10-inch forecast has changed: 1 to 3 inches during the day Sunday, another 3-7 tonight, according to the National Weather Service. And their winter storm warning is still in effect until Monday at 1 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 15 degrees tonight, with the wind chill making it feel much colder. Few people could be found on the streets of South Side Easton Sunday afternoon: some random dog walkers, a few pedestrians, and folks who wanted to get an early start on clearing their sidewalks, like Russell Fell. He had his sons working the shovels while he swooped in with a leaf-blower to rid the pavement of the powdery snow. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad, Fell said.

"And maybe it'll 90 degrees and sunny tomorrow," he added. "Wishful thinking."

Tomorrow's actual, non-wishful-thinking forecast calls for another half-inch of snow, with temperatures in the mid-20s.
