Easton Defeats Bethlehem Catholic 3-0 at Coca-Cola Park

"Scotty kept us in the game until we got the bats swinging in the 6th inning," senior shortstop Colin Case said of Scott Anderson's two-hit shutout.

Easton met Bethlehem Catholic at Coca-Cola Park this morning for a game that was mostly hitless and run-less until the sixth inning, when the Rovers produced the hitting momentum to take the game.

Easton pitcher Scott Anderson threw for seven innings. He totaled 4 strikeouts, three walks and allowed just two hits.

A rain shower prompted park officials to call a rain delay during the 2nd inning. When the game continued, the teams played through one scoreless inning after another until the sixth, when the Rovers produced four hits for three runs.

Connor Casey, a junior, pitched for Bethlehem Catholic. Casey tallied 7 strikeouts over 7 innings. Beca’s Taylor Longernecker and Taylor Overby had hits.

The game was part of Coca-Cola Park’s annual PlayDay, when Lehigh Valley Conference teams play at the stadium. It’s an opportunity for both the teams and the fans, who enjoy all of the amenities of a minor league field. “I’m sure some of the younger guys were nervous… being a senior, I was able to enjoy it, and what the park had to offer.”

On the team’s two-game winning streak, Case said, “Coach Hess likes us to take it one game at a time.” Easton will play at Emmaus Tuesday afternoon.
