Easton Molestation Case Headed to Court

A former Easton man will go trial on charges that he had sex with a 12-year-old girl.

, 24, is charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, statuatory sexual assault, and indecent assault stemming from his relationship with the girl three years ago.

Following a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon, decided there is enough evidence against Chumbiriza for the case against him to proceed to .

During Wednesday's hearing, the girl testified that she had sex with Chumbiriza, who lived in her building on North Second Street, two to three times in 2008, as well ad additional occasions in North Carolina. She said her mother found out about their relationship when she saw text messages from Chumbiriza.

Defense attorney asked that the complaint against Chumbiriza, which initially listed five counts of each crime against his client, be amended to only three counts. The judge agreed, and also dropped another charge, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Chumbiriza, 24, had been living in North Carolina, where he was arrested in August. He had fought extradition to Pennsylvania, and was finally arraigned here in October.
